I presume we’ll have some news regarding the Connor Hellebuyck situation before the season starts. And that will likely determine the course of the Winnipeg Jets for the 2026-27 season.

Jets Odds To Win the Stanley Cup

The Jets’ Stanley Cup odds are +15000.

The Jets’ +15000 hockey odds at the BetMGM sportsbook are tied for the seventh-longest with the Detroit Red Wings.

All six teams with longer odds reside in the Western Conference, including Central Division foes the St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, and Nashville Predators.

Winnipeg Jets Predictions

I predict the Jets will miss the playoffs for the second straight season.

General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff and Co. selected Viggo Björck with the No. 8 pick, and he’s expected to join the team for the 2026-27 campaign. Don’t be surprised to see him on the second line with Cole Perfetti.

That shows you two things: How highly the Jets think of Björck and the lack of secondary scoring.

Aside from drafting Björck, the Jets haven’t really moved the needle otherwise, at least offensively. They signed free agent Mario Ferraro to a three-year, $12 million contract, but he’e very much a defensive defenceman.

If Hellebuyck stays, the Jets will compete for the playoffs. However, Hellebuyck must be in the right mindset to push Winnipeg over the top. If he’s not, the team will suffer and likely finish on the outside of the playoff picture.

Despite his propensity for unnecessary blunders, Stuart Skinner is a competent goaltender. If Hellebuyck leaves, Skinner will be able to keep the Jets competitive, but securing a postseason berth would likely be just beyond them.

Winnipeg Jets Western Conference Odds

The Jets’ odds to win the Western Conference are +5000.

In what is perceived as the weaker Western Conference, the Jets have the seventh-longest odds of advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time.

They are trading ahead of the Blues and Predators and behind the Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks.

The Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, and Vegas Golden Knights are the frontrunners. The Jets last made the conference final in 2018, when they lost to the Golden Knights.

Winnipeg Jets Central Division Odds

The Jets’ odds to win the Central Division are +3000.

The Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild are expected to compete for the Central Division crown, with the Utah Mammoth trading just behind that triumvirate.

There’s a significant dropoff thereafter, with the Jets trading well behind the four favourites. The Jets have slightly shorter odds than the Blues, who are in front of the Predators and Blackhawks.

Winnipeg won the Central Division in 2024-25 and also captured the Presidents’ Trophy. However, they were upended in the second round by the Stars.
