5 Best Super Bowl LVIII Prop Bets

Whether you’re a fan of the NFL or not, prop betting markets offer additional ways to bet online. This football betting market includes analyzing individual player performance or shoot … there are some Taylor Swift-related novelty props, too. 

Below, I’ll disclose my five favourite props of Super Bowl LVIII as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers battle it out for football supremacy on Feb. 11. 

5 Best Super Bowl Prop Bets

Prop bets offer additional NFL betting opportunities beyond just the point spread, moneyline, and over/under.

So, let’s examine my five best props wagers for Super Bowl LVIII. 

Coin Toss Outcome: Tails (-105)

At BetMGM, the Coin Toss Outcome prop receives the same odds at -105 on both sides. Here, I’m taking tails. Not only was it tails last year, but from Super Bowl 50 on, it’s been tails five times. 

As they say, tails never fail. 

National Anthem Length: Over 90.5 seconds (+100)

Here we go — we’re getting our first plus-money prop bet. 

At 90.5 seconds, we’re banking on the national anthem for more than 1.5 minutes. 

This year, Reba McEntire is singing the anthem. 

How can we determine if she’ll go over or under that length? 

If you look at her Spotify top five songs, three are over four minutes long. Typically, the average song length is in that 3:00 to 3:30 timespan.

We also have to remember that McEntire is 68 years old.

So, expect her to take her time a bit. Look for her to finish within one minute and 40 seconds. 

Christian McCaffrey 2 or More Touchdowns (+225)

OK, I’ll dig into some player props now. 

Heading into Super Bowl LVIII, Christian McCaffrey is coming off a regular season with 21 touchdowns. In the postseason, he has four touchdowns — two in each game he’s played against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. 

While the Chiefs have a fantastic defence, if there’s anywhere they struggle defensively, it’s against the run. They allow over 113 rushing yards per game, which is 17th in the league. 

They’ve allowed an average line of 18 carries for 82 yards (4.47 yards per carry) and nearly five receptions for 30.5 yards to the position. 

Expect McCaffrey to be a massive focal point of this 49ers offensive game plan, per usual. 

He’s also +450 to win Super Bowl MVP, only behind Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy.

Player to Record First Sack: Nick Bosa (+450)

A sack in a game of this magnitude can help shift the momentum. When you look at these trench battles, 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa will see plenty of Jawaan Taylor in the Super Bowl. 

According to Pro Football Focus, Taylor has allowed five sacks and 54 pressures this season. Bosa finished the regular season with 95 pressures (third) and 14 sacks (tied for sixth).

Look for Bosa to make it a tough afternoon for Taylor.

Travis Kelce Over 70.5 Receiving Yards (-125)

I am a huge fan of this wager.

Travis Kelce had 11 receptions for well over 100 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship. 

Here, he’ll take on a 49ers defence that allowed nine receptions for 97 yards to Lions tight end Sam LaPorta, who’s not quite the No. 1 option in his offence. 

That’s not the case here — Kelce is the go-to guy for Mahomes, especially in the biggest moments. 

In coverage, we could see 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw match up with Kelce. This season, he’s allowed 63 receptions on 92 targets for 521 yards, per PFF. 

Look for Kelce to be heavily involved here and sail past 70.5 receiving yards. 

Are Prop Bets Good Bets?

I personally believe prop bets are a good wager. In a game where the point spread is only two points, prop bets allow additional focus on individual player performances.
