  • Rashard Higgins is the Rams' all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
  • Bradlee Van Pelt was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year twice.
  • Kapri Bibbs played one season with Colorado State and ran for 31 touchdowns.

The Colorado State Rams haven’t won a bowl game since the 2013 New Mexico Bowl.

In 2024, they appeared in the Arizona Bowl against Miami (Ohio). The NCAAF odds favoured the Redhawks by 2.5 points, and the Rams lost 43-17.

Still, the Rams’ football odds are available at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Below, I’ll examine the top five Rams football players of all time.

Colorado State Rams All-Time Greatest Football Players

1. Rashard Higgins

Higgins played for Colorado State for three seasons from 2013 to 2015.

In just three seasons, he piled up 239 catches for 3,649 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Those are all program records.

In 2014, he had 1,750 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, both of which are single-season records. The 96 catches he had that season are tied for second in the single-season record books.

Higgins was also a consensus All-American and a two-time first-team All-Mountain West honoree.

2. Bradlee Van Pelt

After transferring from Michigan State, Van Pelt was at Colorado State from 2001 to 2003.

He was a two-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, a two-time first-team All-Mountain West selection, and is enshrined in the Colorado State Rams Hall of Fame.

While with the Rams, he threw for 6,271 yards (ninth in program history) and 38 touchdowns (eighth).

What made Van Pelt stand out from any other signal-caller was his dual-threat ability.

He also ran for 26 touchdowns (tied for fourth), racked up 8,579 total yards (second), and 64 total touchdowns (second).

3. Kapri Bibbs

Bibbs was with Colorado State for just one season, but my gosh, it was an insane season.

He ran 281 times for 1,741 yards and—wait for it—31 touchdowns.

The yards and touchdowns are both single-season records.

He also ranks second in rushing touchdowns all-time in Colorado State history.

Remember, he played just one season.

4. Garrett Grayson

Grayson, a pure pocket passer, played at Colorado State from 2011 to 2014.

He threw for 9,191 yards (first in program history), 64 touchdowns (second), had 9,512 total yards (first), and 68 total touchdowns (second).

He was the Mountain West Player of the Year and a first-team All-Mountain West pick.

5. Cecil Sapp

Another running back, Sapp, was at Colorado State from 1999 to 2002. However, he had just six carries in 1999 and didn’t play in 2001.

Still, he ran for 2,642 rushing yards (ninth in program history) and 29 rushing touchdowns (third).

Sapp still holds the record for the longest rushing play in Colorado State history, an 89-yard run against Air Force in 2000.

His 1,601 rushing yards in 2002 are the second-most in a single season.

Sapp was a two-time first-team All-Mountain West selection and helped lead the Rams to an MWC title in 2002.
