Canada is on to the Round of 16 at a World Cup for the first time after beating South Africa 1-0 in the opening Round of 32 match.
After defeating the Netherlands on penalties, Morocco stands between Canada and a first quarterfinal berth. Canada is the +210 betting underdog to advance, while Morocco has -270 odds to prevail.

Canada’s soccer odds at the BetMGM online sportsbook to win the World Cup shortened from +12500 to +10000 after beating South Africa.
Canada’s Round of 16 matchup against Morocco takes place on Saturday in Houston at 1 p.m. ET.

Canada World Cup Predictions
While Canada showed excellent endeavour and drive against South Africa, I predict the Round of 16 will mark the end of its World Cup campaign.
I like how Canada matches up with Morocco, and I expect Les Rouges to offer stern resistance.
In my Canada vs. Morocco prediction, I backed Canada to force the match into extra time. However, I believe Morocco’s depth, along with captain Achraf Hakimi’s influence, will prove decisive.
I expect Alphonso Davies to start in Canada’s Round of 16 match, but he won’t be at his sharpest and will likely only last 60 minutes or so.
That should provide Canada the platform to play Morocco tight, as he will team up with formidable offensive threats Jonathan David and Tajon Buchanan.
Canada’s defence is seen as the weakest of an otherwise strong starting 11, with Richie Laryea potentially susceptible to Hakimi’s advances.
Morocco’s captain, who plays for back-to-back Champions League winner PSG, is one of the best right-backs in the world, known for his marauding runs and silky-smooth skill set.
Laryea, caught several times in the first four matches, has a daunting task trying to keep Hakimi at bay.
The pressure will also be on Moïse Bombito, who should start for the second straight match. He and centre-back partner Derek Cornelius must be at their best to push Morocco to the brink.
I’m also slightly concerned about Maxime Crépeau. Canada’s goalkeeper allowed a weak one against Switzerland, something that cannot happen at this stage of a World Cup. He’ll have to avoid any mistakes while making one, maybe two, game-saving stops.
Everything will have to fall into place for Canada to pull off the upset, and the probability of that occurring is 32.26%.
While Canada will likely be at its best, there are too many potential vulnerabilities to back what would be a famous upset.
I’m more in line with the close-but-no-cigar school of thought.
