The Khosla family is buying the Seahawks for a record $9.612 billion, the NFL announced on July 25.

The Seahawks, in accordance with Paul G. Allen’s request before he passed away in 2018, were put up for sale on Feb. 18. Jody Allen took over as chair of the Seahawks after Paul’s passing.

Proceeds from the sale will go to charity, most of which to the Paul G. Allen Foundation.

Allen passed away in 2018, and his younger sister, Jody Allen, took over as chair of the Seahawks.

Vinod Khosla was an early investor in Google. His venture fund, Khosla Ventures, purchased a 5% stake, about $50 million, in OpenAI in 2019. As of March, OpenAI was worth $852 billion.
