Drew Brees led the Saints to their first-ever Super Bowl win at Super Bowl XLIV despite the NFL betting odds putting them as five-point underdogs against the Indianapolis Colts.

1. Drew Brees
After playing with the then-San Diego Chargers from 2001 to 2005, Brees landed with the Saints in 2006. During a time he was recovering from a shoulder injury so bad, it was unclear if he’d fully recover. The Chargers offered him a five-year, $50 million deal with only $2 million guaranteed.
Instead, Brees went to the Saints and played there for 15 years, retiring in 2020.
He finished his time with the Saints attempting 8,742 passes, completing 6,017 of them, going for 68,010 yards, and 491 touchdowns. These are all Saints records.
Brees led the Saints to their first and only Super Bowl win at Super Bowl XLIV, where Brees was named MVP after passing for 288 yards and two touchdowns.
He was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year, the Man of the Year in 2006, a first-team All-Pro, and a four-time second-team All-Pro. He led the league in passing yards seven times, passing touchdowns four times, passer rating twice, and completion percentage six times and also won the Art Rooney and Bart Starr Awards.

2. Rickey Jackson
Playing linebacker for the Saints from 1981 to 1993, Jackson recorded 1,104 solo tackles, a Saints record. He also had seven interceptions, 27 fumble recoveries, and 123.0 sacks, which. are a Saints record. Only he and Cameron Jordan can claim more than 82.5 sacks in a Saints uniform.
Jackson was a five-team second-team All-Pro, went to seven Pro Bowls, led the league in forced fumbles four times, and is in the Saints Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame.
Jackson also is enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
3. Willie Roaf
An offensive tackle for the Saints from 1993 to 2001, Roaf was a three-time first-team All-Pro, a two-time second-team All-Pro, went to seven Pro Bowls, and was part of the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Roaf is in the Saints Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame. He played 189 games throughout his NFL career and started all of them.
He’s also enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
4. Sam Mills
Mills started his career as an undrafted free agent in 1981 but didn’t land with New Orleans until 1986 and stayed there until 1994.
He racked up 894 solo tackles (second), had four interceptions, 17 fumble recoveries, 10.5 sacks, and returned two for touchdowns.
He was a two-time second-team All-Pro with the Saints, went to four Pro Bowls, and is in the Saints Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor.
He’s enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
5. Morten Andersen
Here we go—a kicker.
Andersen played in the NFL from 1982 to 2007 and was with the Saints from 1982 to 1994.
He holds Saints records for field goals made (302), field goal attempts (389), extra point attempts (418), and extra points made (412).
He was a four-time first-team All-Pro and a second-team All-Pro, went to six Pro Bowls, won a Golden Toe Award, and is in the Saints Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor.
A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Andersen holds the NFL record for most games played (382) and consecutive games scored (360).
He’s enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
6. Marques Colston
Colston played his entire career with the Saints from 2006 to 2015, racking up 711 receptions on 1,099 targets for 9,759 yards and 72 touchdowns. These are all Saints records.
He was part of the Saints Super Bowl XLIV roster and was a member of the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2006 after going No. 252 overall in the seventh round out of Hofstra.
7. Jahri Evans
Evans, a guard, played for the Saints from 2006 to 2015. He was part of the Super Bowl XLIV squad, was a four-time first-team All-Pro, a second-team All-Pro, and went to six Pro Bowls.
He last played in 2017 with the Green Bay Packers.
