The Baltimore Ravens are a team formed as a result of the Cleveland Browns’ relocation in the mid-1990s by former owner Art Modell. Despite the short history, there have already been several legendary players. 

Today, with Lamar Jackson at quarterback, the Ravens often find themselves on the favourite side of the NFL betting odds.

Who Are the Greatest Ravens Ever?

1. Ray Lewis

Drafted No. 26 overall in 1996, Lewis was the second draft pick by the franchise. He played in Baltimore his entire career, retiring following the team’s Super Bowl XLVII win. That was his second Super Bowl ring with the team. The first was XXXV, where he was the Super Bowl MVP.

He was also a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and a seven-time first-team All-Pro. 

He holds the NFL records for career total tackles (2,059) and solo tackles (1,568), as well as solo tackles in a single season (156). 

A Pro Football Hall of Famer, he also ended his career with 31 interceptions, 17 forced fumbles, and 41.5 sacks. 

2. Jonathan Ogden

While Lewis was the second pick by the Ravens, Ogden was the first, going No. 4 overall in 1996. He played his entire career with the team, retiring in 2007. He was part of the Super Bowl XXXV roster, a four-time first-team All-Pro, a five-time second-team All-Pro, and an 11-time Pro Bowler. 

He’s a member of the Pro and College Football Hall of Fame and played in 177 games, starting 176.

Ogden went out on top, allowing just two sacks in his final season on 314 pass-blocking snaps. 

3. Ed Reed

Reed was drafted No. 24 overall in 2002. He played for the Ravens from 2002 to 2012 before finishing his career with the Texans and Jets. 

He was a Super Bowl XLVII team member, 2004 Defensive Player of the Year, five-time first-team All-Pro, three-time interceptions leader, and holds four NFL records. 

The records include the most interception return yards (1,590), the longest interception return (108 yards), the most postseason interceptions (nine), and the most seasons leading the league in interceptions (tied at three). 

He finished his career with 64 interceptions, 139 pass deflections, 646 total tackles, 11 forced fumbles, 13 recoveries, six sacks, and 13 total touchdowns. 

He’s a member of the Pro and College Football Hall of Fame. 

4. Terrell Suggs

The Ravens have been a fantastic defensive squad over the years. Suggs added to that after getting drafted No. 10 overall in 2003. He played with the Ravens until 2018. He finished his career with the Cardinals and Chiefs in 2019. 

He won a Super Bowl with the Ravens (XLVII) and the Chiefs (LIV). 

He was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2011, Defensive Rookie of the Year, first-team All-Pro in 2011, second-team All-Pro in 2008, and made seven Pro Bowls. He won several other trophies, including the Butkus Award and the Ted Hendricks Award, and is a member of the Baltimore Ravens Ring of Honour. 

He finished his career with 139 sacks, 886 tackles, 39 forced fumbles, 15 recoveries, and 60 pass deflections. 

5. Joe Flacco

When you look over the Ravens’ history, it’s hard to dispute that Flacco, minus all of the “elite” memes, is the best quarterback they’ve ever had. Lamar Jackson is pushing for this distinction, but as of right now, Flacco is the best quarterback Baltimore has seen. 

Flacco led perhaps the most electric postseason run in NFL history, defeating the Colts, Broncos, and Patriots before his head coach, John Harbaugh, beat his brother, Jim, and the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. 

Flacco was the MVP of that Super Bowl and holds the NFL record for most passing touchdowns in a single postseason with 11. Flacco is tied with Tom Brady for most playoff wins on the road by a quarterback with seven. 

Flacco holds several all-time Ravens records, including passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. 

6. Marshal Yanda

We touched on Ogden, but there has never been a more consistent guard in NFL history than Yanda. 

Drafted in the third round in 2007, Yanda made eight Pro Bowls, two first-team All-Pro honours, five second-team All-Pro honours, the NFL 2010s All-Decade team, Ravens Ring of Honour, and more. 

He played 7,140 pass-blocking snaps in his career and allowed just 20 sacks. There were five seasons in which he didn’t allow a single sack. 

7. Lamar Jackson

Jackson is the incumbent starting quarterback for the Ravens as of 2025. He’s won two MVP awards, has been to four Pro Bowls, and is a three-time first-team All-Pro.

He had a season for the record books in 2024, where he became the first player to throw for 40 touchdowns and four or fewer interceptions, the first player to have 40 touchdown passes and 600 rushing yards, and more.
