Texas A&M Aggies All-Time Greatest Basketball Players
1. Acie Law IV
Law played for Texas A&M from 2003 to 2007, where he won the Bob Cousy Award (given to the nation’s best point guard), was a consensus first-team All-American, was the Chip Hilton Player of the Year, and his No. 1 was retired by the school.
Over his career, he averaged 13.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
He posted 1,669 points (fourth in program history), 545 assists (fourth), and 156 steals (eighth).
2. John Beasley
Beasley suited for the Aggies from 1963 to 1966 and averaged 21.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
He was the SWC Player of the Year twice, in 1965 and 1966.
Over his career, he had 1,594 points (fifth) and 784 rebounds (ninth).
3. Bernard King
King played for Texas A&M from 1999 to 2003. He averaged 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
He’s Texas A&M’s all-time leading scorer with 1,990 points.
He also had 550 rebounds (third) and 152 steals (ninth).
4. Vernon Smith
Smith averaged 14.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.8 steals per game over his career from 1977 to 1981.
He was a three-time first-team All-SWC and second-team All-SWC.
He scored 1,778 points (second) and 978 rebounds (first).
He had 21 rebounds in a game during the 1978-79 season against UNLV, the second most in a single game in Aggies history.
5. Josh Carter
Carter suited up for the Aggies from 2005 to 2009 and averaged 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 steals per game.
He scored 1,566 points, eighth in program history.
Carter was third-team All-Big 12 in 2009.
One of the most memorable moments of Carter’s career came in a 57-55 win over Nebraska. He hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer to seal the win. He followed that up with a 29-point outing against Iowa State.
